Thangton Gyalpo was an incarnation of the illustrious Dolpopa Sherb Gyatlston (1292-1361) a leading Jonangpa matter and formulator of the shengteng view of emptiness. He is said to have built 58 iron suspension bridges around Tibet and Bhutan, several of which are still in use today, He is considered a manifestation of Guru Rinpoche.
